Don’t worry everyone, you can eat your KFC with a clear conscious. An independent lab test confirmed that the rat-shaped chicken tender that caused a media frenzy last week was actually chicken.
Devorise Dixon initially claimed that he was served something that appeared to be a fried rat at his local KFC in California.
KFC denied the allegations, stating that their “immediate investigation has found no evidence to support this.”
Originally, Dixon refused to provide KFC with the tender for an independent study, but a representative for KFC told Mashable that Dixon’s lawyer finally turned over the tender on Friday. The lab concluded that the tender was in fact poultry.
“Based on visual analysis of the sample (and accompanying photography) and on the results of the ELISA-TEK® Cooked Poultry Species Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay Kit (ELISA Technologies, Gainesville, FL), Food Safety Net Services, Ltd. declares the battered and breaded cooked meat sample to be poultry.”
KFC did not comment when asked if they would take legal action against Dixon, and Dixon has not responded to multiple requests for comment. Read more…
